Robert J. Ursano MD is Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience and Director of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Dr Ursano has over 300 publications and the second edition of his Textbook of Disaster Psychiatry, Cambridge University Press was just released.
Dr Ursano has won many Awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Society of Traumatic Stress, the Humanitarian Achievement Award of the Department of Defense and the William Menninger Award of the American College of Physicians for fundamental contributions to understanding mental health and illness. He is the editor of the distinguished journal Psychiatry: Interpersonal and Biological Processes. Dr Ursano was educated at the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from Yale University.
